1, while the arm is lighter, I would still complete the shape of the figure, but I wouldn't make the figure black. Chiaroscuro is the use of strong contrasts between light and dark, usually bold contrasts affecting a whole composition. So the greatest contrast is always a dark to light. What if you kept the bookshelf and the monitor black, made the desktop black, changed the figure to grey. The contrast between the figure and the bookshelf would be some, but not as great as the grey to the white. Which is really what is being portrayed in the image. 2 good 3 too busy, you need to look at the image with an even fuzzier view. Either make your foreground black or introduce some of the black to some of the bldgs in the distance as well. Right now it feels a little to fractured. 4, what's happening in the bottom left corner is distracting, which means the focus is there, and that's not the intended focus. So what needs to be fixed to make the composition more clear. 5, kind of the same problem, the lack of a head is confusing, even if I didn't know the original image. The black frame is not as pronounced in the original as you make it. 6, good 7, I would eliminate the white in the top area and let it be grey, that makes the framing of the black image stronger. 8, foreground, middle ground, focus element. How can you change what you have to convey that better? 9, again, stick to what is supposed to be seen and not what you actually see. Half of a figure is not helping the composition. 10, good
